KARACHI: Senior Superintendent of Police Malir Rao Anwar on Tuesday “narrowly escaped” a suicide attack on his car in the city’s Malir area, ARY News reported.
According to ARY News correspondent Shah Nawaz Shah, Rao Anwar’s car came under attack from a number of terrorists in Malir when he was returning home from Gadap police station. A suicide bomber blew himself up near his car while others opened fire on the vehicle.
At least two terrorists were killed in retaliatory firing by Anwar’s security staff.
It is pertinent to note here that this is not the first time that Rao Anwar claimed to have come under attack as the cop was attacked twice in the year 2015.
In May 2015, a number of terrorists hurled hand grenades at Anwar’s convoy. The cop escaped unhurt but five attackers were killed.
Then in June 2015, Anwar’s convoy again came under attack in Malir by some terrorists. An encounter ensued, which resulted in the killing of at least four terrorists.
