ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Monday said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) would set up an oil refinery in Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported.

According to details, this decision was finalised during the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit a day earlier.

While speaking to the media, the minister said such an investment would further boost the cordial ties between Pakistan and the UAE.

“The UAE has already announced three billion dollars cash support to help Pakistan overcome its balance of payment crisis while the provision of an oil facility on deferred payment is under discussion,” he added.

Highlighting the significance of the closed bilateral relations, Chaudhry said, “UAE has always supported Pakistan through tough times because its leadership considers the country as their second home.”

On Jan 6, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan received Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Al Nahyan on his day-long visit of Pakistan.

The two dignitaries held one on one meetings followed by a delegation-level talks at the PM House in Islamabad. Both the sides discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual, regional and international interests.
