The oath taking ceremony was held at the SHC Sabzazar, during which the Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ebad administered oath to the new chief justice.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah and a large number of lawyers and judges of the Supreme Court and Sindh High Court.
Talking to media after the ceremony, CJ Faisal Arab said that judges are required for delivering justice, while there are ten more judges needed in the SHC and over 200 in lower courts.
“If judges would not be there, who will provide justice to the people”, he questioned.
CJ Arab also said that earlier if someone within judiciary was found involved in irregularities he used to be transferred, but this will not happen now and an action will be taken against such a person.
“There is no way but to punish terrorists and criminals in order to maintain peace in the country”, he said. “If careful investigations are carried out, then the accused will surely be convicted from the courts”.
Moreover, he said that unnecessary strikes cause difficulties for the litigants and we will not encourage it.
