PTI calls for PM’s resignation, holding early elections

ISLAMABAD: Deploring the imposition of section 144 in the federal capital, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan on Thursday called for holding early elections in the country, ARY News reported.

Talking to media outside the Election Commission here, Awan reiterated the party demand of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation.

“Early elections should be held so the masses can elect a new leader as it’s a time for the premier to resign,” Awan opined.

He said finance minister Ishaq Dar should also resign along with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif as what he said the Panamagate probe has revealed about their wrongdoings.

“There is no institution in this country which has not demanded the resignation of these officials,” he remarked while urging the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take notice of dire consequences threats that were made by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi his subordinates for record tampering.

Joining in conversation, PTI spokesperson Naeem-ul-Haque said with each passing day new allegations of corruption are getting surfaced against the premier.

“If he does not resign, he will have to face the consequences,” Haque remarked.
