LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has staged a protest outside Governor House in Lahore, demanding the registration of first information report (FIR) of assassination attempt on former prime minister and party chief Imran Khan, ARY News reported on Monday.
According to details, a huge number of PTI workers and supporters are present outside Governor House Lahore, demanding the registration of FIR over attack on Imran Khan in Wazirabad.
The protestors – who were chanting slogans against the federal government – also burned effigies of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.
PTI leaders Yasmin Rashid, Aslam Iqbal, Sumsam Bukhari, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and others were also present in the protest.
Meanwhile, contingents of police have reached outside the house to maintain law and order. The police have installed barbed wires at the gate of the Governor House.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders were injured after a man opened fire near the PTI reception camp at Allahwala Chowk during party’s long march.

According to details, unidentified assailants opened fire on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s container near the Allahwala Chowk in Wazirabad, injuring six people and killing one. However, still a first information report (FIR) of the incident has not yet registered.
Later, Punjab Inspector General (IG) of police Faisal Shahkar has decided to step down from his office, citing personal reasons.
In a letter to the federal government, the Punjab IG Faisal Shahkar said he cannot continue discharging his duties due to personal reasons.
It may be noted that Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader Moonis Elahi, son of Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Ealhi, held an important meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Lahore.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to the registration of FIR following an attack on Imran Khan and others issues came under discussion.
According to sources privy to the matter, the former prime minister also directed Moonis Elahi to remove Inspector General (IG) Punjab Faisal Shahkar from his post.
