LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Friday asked for the particulars of all construction contracts of Punjab’s mega projects given in past five years.
Lahore’s registry of the apex court took up the case pertaining to the contracts of mega projects in Punjab. During the hearing, chief justice Saqib Nisar questioned “why only five to six companies keep getting all the contracts of Punjab?”
Each of the big project of Punjab bears the name of few specific companies, he highlighted while observing that if any irregularity is found out in this matter then the case will be sent to the concerned department.
“We will set up a commission, if needed, to scrutinize the transparency of the process of giving contracts to companies,” the top judge stated.
A single company received 22 contracts worth billions in merely 24 months, the chief noted and ordered to submit details of all construction contracts given over last five years.
