Artists have expressed concern and demanded security after famed qawwal Amjad Sabri’s assassination in Karachi.
A group of around 60 singers, actors and models belonging to TV and film industry led by Fakhr-e-Alam approached a police station in Defence on Saturday to submit a request demanding security for all the production houses owing to adverse law and order situation.
When the deputy speaker Sindh Assembly came to attend assembly session, journalists accosted her and asked the government stance about the security demand of artists. Shehla said politicians had given sacrifice for this country; hence, they were the first target of terrorists (not artist).
“Tell me a name, if any artist is on the hit list of terrorists. Why do they need security? I have seen artists closer to maulvis (religious persons),” she said.
When the journalists told her that more than 60 artists had submitted application for their security in Darkhshan police station of Defence area, she asked who was leading them. The journalists told her name of well-known singer Fakhr-e-Alam. However, Shehla failed to recognize Fakhr and then murmured with uncertainty ‘the one who is grandson of General Rani’.
