Iqra Khalid won after a hard-fought against Conservative incumbent Bob Dechert in Erin-Mills. She works as a legal professional for the City of Mississauga.
Ms Khalid was born in 1986 in Rukanpur, a place in Rahim Yar Khan. She received her early education from the Government Girls Elementary School, Rukanpur.
The lady went on to complete her matriculation from Bahawalpur.
She immigrated to Canada in the late 1990’s from England, where she began her formal schooling. She graduated from York University in 2007, with a double major in Criminology and Professional Writing. Ms Khalid later obtained her Juris Doctor and is now working as a legal professional with the City of Mississauga.
In Canada, Iqra Khalid has held numerous volunteer positions including President of the Pakistani Student Association, Media Relations Ambassador for the York University Student Alumni, Communications Coordinator for the Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals, and a Director on the Board for Breaking Free Foundation.
