Pakistan aims to take advantage of Japanese technology: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said on Monday that Japan was also among other countries included by Pakistan in its newly-introduced electronic visa policy, ARY News reported.

In a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda in Islamabad, he said Pakistan is an attractive destination of the foreign investment and there is an ample scope for more cooperation in fields of film, culture and joint production.

Fawad Chaudhry said Pakistan was desirous of further strengthening its bilateral relations with Japan.

The minister said there was a need to jointly work together on film productions and cultural promotions. He said Japan had a standing in the world in terms of technological development and advancement.

He informed the Chinese envoy that Pakistan building a media university to educate students with changing media technology.

He also informed that a plan was also under consideration to digitize the national television, PTV.

The Japanese ambassador appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for promotion of tourism in Pakistan. He also stressed the need for strengthening in sectors like education, sports and culture.

In February, the Japanese government had extended its support to Pakistan by announcing a grant assistance of $10.6 million to fight malnutrition, improve livelihood and increase pliability to natural disasters in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.

The assistance is part of a partnership that the Japanese government signed with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Food Programme (WFP) in Islamabad.
