Shahid Afridi regrets calling Miandad ‘greedy person’

KARACHI: All-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi has expressed remorse over coming down hard on former skipper Javed Miandad.

He said Javed Miandad is a legend of cricket but he used very harsh words against him on TV for long time. “He made personal attack on me for no reason.”

“I tolerated for a long time but every person has a limit. I am sad that Javed Miandad was making personal attacks for long time. I regret what I said to a senior, but of course I had to eventually react to his behaviour,” he said.

Afridi most often surprises with his knocks and statements. Soon he had realised that he had gone off limit. He expressed regret to his senior within few hours of his statement that he made against the legendary batsman of Pakistan in a press conference.

To a query regarding ‘Miandad has alleged that Afridi wants farewell match to earn money only’, he said Miandad himself had always had issue of money, which still continues.

He said a big cricketer like Miandad should not have said such a cheap thing.

This should be noted that once Lala, while talking to media in India, said he had got more love in India. Miandad had mocked him over this statement. He also reportedly accused Afridi of match-fixing for money.

It seems as if the hard-hitter has got hints from high officials of Pakistan Cricket Board that he is not going to get a farewell match, unless he proves himself fit for it, as he is no more vigorously pursuing it.

“It does not matter much whether I get farewell or not. The name and honor Allah (SWT) has bestowed upon me is enough,” he said adding, “Despite all this, I have planned a meeting with Chairman Executive Committee PCB Najam Sethi to clear the air with him after all he is our senior.”
