LAHORE: In the wake of her tweets supporting war and Indian jingoism, a resolution demanding the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to remove Priyanka Chopra as a Goodwill Ambassador tabled in Punjab Assembly on Saturday.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) female legislator Hina Pervaiz Butt tabled the resolution in the provincial assembly, saying that Priyanka Chopra, being a goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, attempted to fuel war by her tweet and disgraced the honor of the slot.
The legislator said that Priyanka Chopra should have promoted human-friendly environment and impartiality across the globe. She said that Priyanka Chopra failed to meet the requirements of the slot.
On the other hand, social media users demanded of the UN to Strip Priyanka of goodwill ambassadorship.
Fatiymah said in her tweet, ‘Celebrities who fueled wars had no reason to be talking about human rights at any forum. Some who apparently works for children’s right, needs to be schooled about the impact of war on children’
Pakistan actress Armeena Khan took to the twitter saying, “What? But aren’t you supposed to be a good will ambassador for UNICEF? Screen shot this everyone and next time she speaks up for peace and goodwill. Let’s remind her of this hypocrisy.”

So Priyanka Chopra, the international star, too joined her Bollywood colleagues and ultra-nationalist sportsmen (read Gautam Gambhir, Sehwag and Tendulkar) in boasting about the so-called airstrike by Indian Air Force on February 26.
She was reminded that she is the goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and war mongering doesn’t suit her in any way.
