KARACHI: Conceding political infighting in the party over tickets for contesting the next polls, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said the party would carefully allot tickets.
Speaking at a news conference here, he said party tickets were awarded in the past in a bit rush, but this time around they would be more careful in awarding tickets.
He said corruption was on the rise in the country, especially in Sindh province which, besides corruption, suffered due to the incompetent rulers.
Deploring the pathetic situation of civic facilities in Karachi, the PTI chief said over 480 million of sewage was being dumped into the sea every day, which affected marine life.
The city’s sewerage system has collapsed, he said, adding that people would continue to suffer unless it will fixed, he said.
Khan said the KP government had introduced a new local government system in the province and depoliticized institutions.
The Pakistan Steel Mill had been shut down while the Pakistan International Airlines was on the verge of collapse, he said and added that appointments made on the basis of favoritism and nepotism had led to their collapse.
Taking a swipe at Nawaz Sharif, he said that Sharif destroyed institutions by appointing his men.
He said he was not fighting against Sharif but a big mafia. There will be no reforms until PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari is brought to dock over his alleged involvement in corruption, he claimed.
He further said terrorism cannot be eliminated without rooting out corruption.
Khan asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to pay special heed to money-laundering as the looted money was being sent abroad through money-laundering.
