ISLAMABAD: Pakistan crushed New Zealand by five wickets at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the third One Day International of the ICC Women’s Championship on Sunday.
Bating first, New Zealand set a victory target of 156 for all out in 43.4 overs. In reply, Pakistan achieved the target in 48.5 overs for the loss of five wickets.
Pakistan’s Sana Mir took four for 25 and was declared player of the match. Sadia Yousaf took two scalps for 22 runs. While, skipper Bismah Maroof bludgeoned 36 with the blade.
This is the first time that Pakistan have beaten New Zealand in Women’s ODIs.
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Najam Sethi congratulated the team and wrote on his Twitter account, “Another first! Our Women’s Team has beaten New Zealand for the first time and earned 2 valuable points. Pakistan Zindabad!”
Sana Mir thanked Allah (SWT) for the much sought after win.
