During the course of the meeting, Chinese investors expressed particular interest in investment projects which pertained to hydroelectricity. The Chinese delegation said that a transparent system relating to such projects would ensure that investment is promoted in the country.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government was giving priority to hydroelectric projects. In order to tackle the energy crisis prevalent in the country, the government was working on Thar Solar Mill and hydroelectric projects simultaneously. Nawaz also said the government had conducted agreements with international financial institutions to secure billions of dollars, for Dasu dam.
Nawaz Sharif was also of the view that Chinese investment in electricity projects would help in tackling the energy crisis in Pakistan. “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would prove to be a game changer for the region,” he said.
He also said that the CPEC would benefit all four provinces within the country.
He also voiced the desire to make Gawadar a free port matching international standards. This economic project would ensure Balochsitan and KPK progress. During the meeting, projects in KPK relating to the economic corridor were also deliberated.
