In a statement, Shah said currently a role of chief election commissioner was similar of a ECP member. He also suggested the government tenure be fixed to four years, instead of the current five years.
“It is mandatory for the CEC to be a judge, which complicates the process. How one will bring the CEC if he is not a judge,” Shah asked.
He said once the incumbent government completed its term, the next tenure for subsequent governments be fixed to four years.
By reducing government tenure, he viewed, it would bring to an end all the problems.
