LAHORE: At least three labourers were killed and two others wounded when the roof of a godown collapsed owing to heavy rainfall in Lahore on the Wednesday morning, ARY News reported.
Police and rescue sources said that the iron roof of a godown at Raiwind road in the provincial capital of Punjab came down, leaving a labourer dead while four others critically injured.
The injured labourers were rushed to a hospital where two more succumbed to their injuries, increasing the death toll to three. Those who died have been identified as Hanif, Sunil and Nadeem. Another labourer Murtaza was stated to be in a precarious condition.
In another rain-related incident, seven people were injured, including children, when the roof of their house collapsed in Green Town area of the city. Rescue workers shifted the injured family members to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment.
Heavy rainfall in parts of Punjab have brought some relief from sweltering heat, bringing the mercury level down. The meteorological department has forecast more rains in the province.
