Karachi is no short of picnic spots – either it seashore or any amusement park… the city has it all. With so much at hand, the citizens don’t yet stop short of exploring new spots for outing, and this time it’s China Port Deep Water Terminal.

Also known as ‘Oyster Rocks’, the spot is a about 2.5 kilometers long breakwater built by China to protect the South Asia Pakistan Terminal, but the citizens find it fascinating enough to spend time there with families.

The Oyster Rocks strip was originally built to protect large freight ships from the hazards of a high tide, protect erosion of sand and the coastline.

The rock-filled pavement also serves a purpose to protect nearby structures. These rocks are actually called ‘tetra pods’ and they are placed in an interlocking pattern, so they form a porous boundary.

Currently, the place is seen full of crowd on weekends with youngsters, families and students making it to their ‘must-visit’ place.

After people started thronging the spot in large numbers, small vendors have also rushed to the place and set up their makeshift business to serve the visitors.

Here are some of the fascinating pictures of the China Port
